Live from the Crucible Studio

Music-loving dog and cat, Stan and Mabel, are off to find their neighbour who’s gone to judge the Greatest Orchestra in the World competition – leading them on a musical adventure featuring a host of animal instrumentalists and a very unusual debut performance.

This fun-packed concert for children, aged 3 – 7 years, features music by our Children’s Composer-in-Residence Paul Rissman, storytelling by Polly Ives, illustrations from Jason Chapman’s original book, and plenty of opportunities to join in!

You can buy a CD of this story, recorded by Polly Ives and Ensemble 360, on Music in the Round’s online store, where we also have recordings of lots of our other storybook concerts!

BARTÓK Duos (49’)

Polly Ives presents a playful, sensory introduction to the unique sound world of Bartók’s much-loved violin duos for 0–5-year-olds (and their music-loving adults). Discover a treasure trove of harmony and rhythmic invention, across these song and dance miniatures performed by Ensemble 360’s violinists Benjamin Nabarro and Claudia Ajmone-Marsan.

Watch the introductory video below to find out more, including some of the props that you might like to have ready for when you watch the concert.
